Too Like the Lightning update: still enjoying it quite a bit. It's an interesting world, and Palmer is a great stylist. It maybe relies a bit too much on significant conversations to move the plot forward for my taste, but that's a peril in both SF and political intrigue novels, so probably inescapable. And she's good at keeping those scenes engaging so they're not just data dumps.

@rhorsman how far in are you? love discussing those books but spoilers are way too much a thing.

@synth I'm a hundred pages in. Definitely keeping the updates to general comments like this rather than any details that could spoil anything.

@rhorsman hoo boy, are you in for a rollercoaster ride. that's all I've gotta say if you're that early in.

@rhorsman <3 on Too Like The Lightning. I love the use of stylistic parallels to underscore the thematic resonance to the Enlightenment. I was pretty firmly in Ninefox Gambit's camp, but I think Palmer might have the Hugo on this one.

@Irick I'm way behind on the whole field this year. The finalists were announced and I was like "oh yeah, the Hugos."

@rhorsman Hah! I'm actually right there with you. I had unrelatedly read Ninefox gambit and Death's End. But I've been practically starving for good scifi and the nominee list seemed like as good of a source as any.
