Time for #introductions I guess!

I'm Jules. I spend most of my day with kids - I have a toddler and a 2nd grader, plus I do some tutoring on the side.

My main hobbies and interests are knitting, music (especially oboe), reading, and museums.

I'll post about those things, and my family (including the cats), but I'll also be posting about political topics. No one else is going to save us, so we need to save each other. I’ll share what I’m doing to help.

Throw the ball down the stairs, point to the ball, point to me, and say "ball!"

"I should go get the ball?"

I just don't know how to convince my 8 year old that "not now" doesn't mean "never."

We decided not to buy him a book he wanted, and I already feel awful about it. I *hate* saying no to books. But it's a new hardcover, and we were only at the store to buy a birthday gift for his friend.

I wouldn't feel nearly so conflicted if it had been a toy. And we really will buy it for him soon - probably next pay period!

But he is heartbroken and wounded and angry and sad.

I'm at a stage in my life when I use makeup not to look pretty, but to hide the fact that I haven't had a full night's sleep since 2015.

I'm too tired to toot, but here is a photo of my cats. Gozer (calico) is trying to clean her brother Perry's (ginger tabby) ears, but he's not thrilled about it and is biting her toes.

Sibling love can be complicated, even for cats.

Parenting means that I have to be thoughtful, empathetic, constructive, and considerate of long-term goals *all the fucking time* and it is exhausting.
