Linux usability hack (XFCE in this case):

You have a touchpad and want to reverse scroll direction on ALL apps, including Qt, to match smartphone behavior:

find the touchpad device ID:
# xinput --list

Logitech Unifying Device. Wireless PID:4024 id=9 [slave pointer (2)]

Do this once when you login:

# xinput set-prop 9 "Evdev Scrolling Distance" -1 -1 -1

The problem with authority is that if you leave it lying around, others will take it away from you.

Where microaggressions really come from: A sociological account
by Jonathan Haidt [2015]

"the new moral culture of victimhood ... it creates a society of constant and intense moral conflict as people compete for status as victims or as defenders of victims."

The etymology of infantry (n.) 1570s, from French infantrie, infanterie (16c.), from older Italian or Spanish infanteria "foot soldiers, force composed of those too inexperienced or low in rank to be cavalry," a collective noun from infante "foot soldier," originally "a youth," from Latin infantem (see infant). Meaning "infants collectively" is recorded from 1610s."

"our identity, and in particular our sense of our own goodness, is dependent on being over against someone or something else. We often establish our goodness against someone else’s wickedness and if we are doing that, then it is a case of scapegoating. Why? Because we need the other to be wicked to know we are good and whether or not they are actually wicked is beside the point. We are using others to solidify our identity the same way a community uses a scapegoat to solve its internal conflict"

"In love, there is always one who kisses and one who offers the cheek"

You Change.

All that you Change,
Changes you.

The only lasting truth
is Change.

“Be even more suspicious…of all those who employ the term we or us without your permission. This is another form of surreptitious conscription, designed to suggest that we are all agreed on our interests and identity.”
