@fce Sweet!! I'll bear your offer in mind :D

It sounds like you don't live in Munich - which part of Germany are you in?

@fce Sadly I've never been to Germany at all! Is Munich good for Brezel?

@fce Excellent! I only know of them from a particular German friend - I definitely hope to try authentic German Brezel one day

@fce Is it the small crunchy kind or proper German Brezel??

@fce Listening to heavy rain from inside is one of the most satisfying things

🏞 More walking
🍦 Ate delicious ice cream

@Averly I'm about to go to bed - and tomorrow I'm off to Wales for a holiday! Good night!

@jason Like a few times a day. Early on I found it useful for finding new people to follow, but now I hardly get anything out of checking Fed, just scroll fruitlessly.

@SuzanEraslan Do you have a regular sleep schedule? IIRC the brain prefers to get up and go to sleep at the same time everyday

@jason That's true (and I personally prefer to see replies in my timeline) but at least I now feel less guilty about replying to whatever I want. Typically I reply a lot more than I post my own thoughts.

@jason I had no idea those settings were there! I've been holding back on replying because I didn't want to clutter the home timeline of followers, but now I see they can control it - sweet!

“People of our time are losing the power of celebration. Instead of celebrating we seek to be amused or entertained. Celebration is an active state, an act of expressing reverence or appreciation. To be entertained is a passive state–it is to receive pleasure afforded by an amusing act or a spectacle…. Celebration is a confrontation, giving attention to the transcendent meaning of one’s actions.”

@aphandra I also feel like I don't have a lot to say, but I've had good results just from responding to other people's thoughts. Use your profile description to say what you're into. Follow people you like, especially on other instances. Look at the people those users follow themselves to find new people. Boost. Favourite. Engage.

I personally feel I'm cultivating an enjoyable experience on mastodon with this strategy.

You know what's weird? I just made up the name aphandra. Like you'd make up a fantasy name. Then I looked it up and aphandra natalia is the name of a plant sometimes called the mastodon fern. Bam! Instant username

@jalefkowit Holy cow, the saying "On the Internet, nobody knows you're a dog" is older than I am!

(only by a week tho)

Whoa.

The idea that in a relationship one member can love the other more than the other loves them is quite strange, not because members in a relationship should love each other equally, but because this implies that the amounts people love other people somehow belong to a totally ordered set

@Alamantus It's important to take care of yourself!

BEHOLD!

A sort of demographic-y survey for Mastodon users!

I'm curious to see what we "look like" and I love to make surveys and then graph the results and share them, so here it is:

goo.gl/forms/hnjF9Yggl2WQAaBj2

I will share the graphs with you all at some point shortly after the survey closes.

Please share this far and wide so that we get results from as many instances as possible! Thank you. :)
