@shel we've had video & audio of what's effectively executions of black men and black boys for years now.
and the only thing that's happening is that white people are complaining about all the black folks who are locking up highways with their loud protests about some thing or the other.
as a good friend of mine put it:
"You are taking a small but not insignificant risk of getting arrested whenever you drive a car, but you do it anyway because it is necessary. The same goes for political action"

And the truth is, we don't actually have to invoke the deep trauma of Jewish people in order to point out that separating families is wrong and putting people in cages is wrong.
It is outrageous on its own. It should be enough to force us into action on its own.

Hey, if Jewish people say that they are uncomfortable with the use of "concentration camps" to describe the horrific treatment of undocumented immigrants bc it feels like an exploitation of their trauma from genocide, IT'S NOT BECAUSE THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT WHAT'S HAPPENING

#TruthSandwich:
1. Start with the truth (if you lead with the lie, you privilege it)
2. Note attempt to divert truth (note, rather than amplify, the lie)
3. Return to the truth the lie is designed to hide (don't allow the distraction/diversion to work) https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/style/instead-of-trumps-propaganda-how-about-a-nice-truth-sandwich/2018/06/15/80df8c36-70af-11e8-bf86-a2351b5ece99_story.html?utm_term=.ed742a38afcc
#YouTube makes money from videos promoting extremism. Its algorithm radicalises viewers, because it wants people to be angrily clicking on more videos.
YouTube is tearing society apart by encouraging us to hate each other:
The most promising ethical alternative to YouTube is #PeerTube, which is decentralised and in beta testing.
You can support development of PeerTube to a release version at its crowdfunding page:

The problem with non-physical abuse is so much of it sounds so minor on paper — and that is part of how abusers minimize their actions and keep their victims under their control.

A little intentional provocation (poking emotional wounds/"pressing buttons") here, a little sexual coercion there, add some withholding affection, with a touch of silent treatment, and a dash of gaslighting about all of the above behaviors to round it all out. https://twitter.com/LuxAlptraum/status/1007709672420331520

This is a concentration camp for children.

Morning, fediverse.
Hey. We all go through hard times. Don't beat yourself up about going through them.
In fact, in these moments we should be even more caring with ourselves and seek out others that encourage empathy and understanding, not the toxic 'just get over it' non-sense.
Your difficult moments do not define the totality of your beautiful self. Hang in there. You're going to get through it.
This week's #EarthFromSpace takes us over Mount Makalu in the #Himalayas, viewed by many as one of the world's most difficult mountains to climb.

Yo. Sex work is empowering- for some people.
Sex work is not empowering for others.
Neither of those situations negate the need for sex worker rights to be seen as legit labor rights. You deserve to work safely regardless of how much you love your job.
