@pzmyers Thanks for this post, PZ. I too, have seen my share of anti-intellectualism and have seen that if falls in the two camps you describe, knee jerk anti's who can't come up with a coherent argument and are simply arguing out of pathos to gain rhetorical points for their side and anti's who want to at least sound intellectual (using the language of science, history, philosophy or other discipline, but usually garbled and missing the basic underlying solidity of a real debate.)
