I've sure been hearing a lot about how other species' behavior is supposed to be a justification for toxic masculinity. Maybe they need to look to some other examples.

@pzmyers (I got a kick out of the matriarchal spider society in "Children of Time" and male spiders' struggle for equality.)
@pzmyers some personal favourites:
- giant waterbugs, who have male paternal care
- protandrous clownfish
- nursery web spiders, who wrap up presents for females (heaven help the male who tries to "re-gift")
- bluegills, with "alpha" and "sneaker" males (though even this is really cis/heterocentric)
- and, of course, the fabulous dancing peacock jumping spiders
