@pzmyers It's basically anti-capitalism (and ire against Mosanto (sp?)) guised up as scientific activism, but there isn't much actual science saying properly-developed GMOs are harmful and that which is out there is clearly politically-motivated.

@maiyannah @pzmyers I think the main argument against GMOs are the business models. So crops are developed which deliberately only last for a single generation and have to be re-purchased continually. It's a way for the megacorps to continuously leech upon farmers.

@bob @maiyannah But…that's also the case with non-GMO seed! Corporate seed has been single-generation since the 1920s.

So if you object to the business models (rightly) doing so by complaining about GMOs is a colossal miss.

@pzmyers @bob Er, genetic modification of crops has been a thing since well before modern science.  We have been using artificial selection to change crops since the dark ages if not before.
