There is a serious disconnect between Republicans and reality.

@pzmyers All I'm reading here is "the only thing worse than the gays are the blacks to most republicans"
@pzmyers Petition to make "Being a Republican" a pre-existing condition.
@pzmyers At least they agree trans people are discriminated against? as much as christians?
they're so fucking bizarre they must have so much cognitive dissonance
@pzmyers what if, both democrats and republicans are disconnected from reality, and the truth is that neither are correct?
@nurnymurse The fact that Repubs think white people are discriminated against MORE than black people shows that they are objectively wrong…and worse, completely bonkers.
@pzmyers That might be true if: 1) we have actual measurements on discrimination (do they even exist outside opinion polls?), 2) we're talking private-sector/citizen discrimination rather than government discrimination, and 3) black people discriminated against for positions in employment, government services over other races nowadays.
Those are 3 pretty big if's. do you agree?
(Posting as a canadian with no investment in the dynamics. stuff's different here.)
@nurnymurse @pzmyers that's true to some extent, but the democrats are objectively closer to reality. Although that's probably more due to the republicans' active denial rather than any special effort on the democrats part.
@Gargoylezoo @pzmyers "reality" seems to have been redefined as "majority opinion" somehow. I'm not sure when it happened, or who is responsible, but it seems to be a post-election phenomenon.
@nurnymurse @pzmyers My thoughts exactly which is why I'm a proud independent.
@pzmyers Republicans are a lost cause. But there's a good 20% of Democrats who are in need of a good talk.
@pzmyers I would totally peg these categories *outside* each of the Democrat responses. I presume I'm not alone in that.
@pzmyers It makes sense if you take their axioms.
For white Christians discrimination is disagreeing with them, or them seeing someone saying something slightly less than differential about them.
For any other group nothing less than a nationally televised lynching conducted by people who all sign statements that they did it due to racism counts as discrimination.
