@seanl That's certainly one possible purpose for technology--and one we should strive for--but it isn't inherent to technology. That reminds me of the techno utopianism of the 90's that thought that the liberatory potential of the internet would automatically lead to liberation. (Sorry if I'm misreading you though).
@pybyte It is not at all inherent in technology. That's the problem. We need to make sure that the technology we develop is liberating in nature.
