@cwebber Hey, nice to run into you online in a new place. I liked your recent writeup of ActivityPub. @355E3B is starting some integration for lobste.rs (where I'm sysop).

@nixy Howdy! Looks like we have a lot of overlapping interests.

It's funny to me to see an "impossible" list of skills for a full-stack developer in this article on Lobsters, because I excercise all of them maintaining Lobsters: lobste.rs/s/x5ytgo

@aleph Absolutely. Wee-slack has a limitation or two that frustrate me (doesn't remember merged buffers, can't mix app + legacy tokens) but I'm grateful to have it at all.

@aleph wee-slack is the only way I access or plan to access Slack in the forseeable future

Lately Jordan Peterson comes up pretty much every time Lobsters gets mentioned somewhere new, so I added a note to the end of our About page: lobste.rs/about#michaelbolton

I chanced upon an ancient cache of code:
a stack of printouts, tall as any man,
that in decaying boxes had been stowed.
Ten thousand crumbling pages long it ran.
Abandoned in the blackness to erode,
what steered a ship through blackness to the moon.
The language is unused in this late year.
The target hardware, likewise, lies in ruin.
Entombed within one lone procedure’s scope,
a line of code and then these words appear:

# TEMPORARY, I HOPE HOPE HOPE

@JordiGH Does it count as copying if I hit enter on the fediverse window first?

When asking for a spot on the bench press, is there a polite, unabiguous way to say, "Keep your filthy, rep-stealing paws off the bar unless it's actually crushing my throat?"

@yogthos I don't understand why those people are not fleeing from the angry telekinetic teenager that must be in the center of that.

@rocx Unless the object/struct holds some kind of magical/stateful/singleton value (maybe socket, file handle, etc.), this f closes over the object and returns a constructor function that calls clone/dup on the obj. (Extra copy needed in closure if obj is mutable.)

@rocx I've built an Ergodox (slightly too large for my hands) and a Planck (maybe a little too narrow for me). I think a "Let's Split" might be perfect for me. Used normanlayout.info on both, maintain qwerty on staggered.

A Lobsters visitor surfed a bit, visited /about, visited my profile, then visited a URL that threw a 500 with the word 'boop' in it. If you just booped me with a 500, DM me for an invite.

Because it just blew a few people's minds: Fisher Stevens, who played the bad guy in Hackers, also played the "Indian" guy in the Short Circuit movies. You're welcome.

made a new version of lisp where everything is exactly the same but instead of () it uses <> for, quote, "aerodynamic purposes"

Just closed a Lobsters security bug that allowed commenters to use any hat. Thanks to David Wolgemuth for reporting and patching this. An audit showed it was never exploited. github.com/lobsters/lobsters/c
