also discovered that the reason the syntax for bit negation wasn't working is because it doesn't have a bit negation operator, or any unary operators really, fun times

@Vierkantor alas, I'm having trouble getting Borland Turbo Assembler to emit valid ARM Thumb instructions.

@phooky I have some good experiences with nasm for x86. But it seems ARMv8 only has GAS, which lacks a lot of features nasm has.
