DO NOT BUY A CR-10S. It ships with thermal runaway protection switched off. Mine started toasting its extruder on first heat. The interface is such that you can't easily monitor the temperature when you're in another menu, and if they're still using PTFE in the extruder, it's going to poison you as well. Fuck that. Bad, dangerous product.
@phooky Also, I may not have nticed that on mine due to Simplify3d monitoring it, and/or Octoprint handling that function.
@TheGibson This was first light, using preheat PLA from the firmware. It never should have gone beyond 100C and hit 300 within a minute. The thermistor is clearly working because it correctly reported the high temperature. It appears that Creality has explicitly disabled the overtemp protection in Marlin. It's basically criminal.
Yeah, that's bad... I only ever had that happen on any of mine if the thermistor was dead.
Marlin could be monitoring a different channel on the board than the thermistor is wired to as well... but in my world that is a moot point as I can't trust anything in the black box now.
@TheGibson Will diagnose it a bit if I get a chance later this week. I have about 30 min/day for fucking around due to infant at moment.
@phooky I get you... been there before.
@phooky oh noes! :s
@phooky First rule of robotics is don't ship products that kill the user when you turn them on.
@phooky But I'm still waiting for my ONO printer.
O NO.

@phooky sorry to hear about it going that way for you.
Mine didn't do that, but I did lose faith in QC from them... was yours a Creality, or a secondary brand?
