I haven't used in many years, since the 4.0 debacle, but I have to say I'm really very impressed by 18.04. It's polished, professional, and runs smoothly even on a Virtualbox machine without the guest additions. Respect to all the Kubuntu devs.

PSA: is available on Ubuntu Linux via snap: "snap install pycharm-professional --classic"

Really, asking "what should replace Facebook" is putting things the wrong way around.

A more interesting way to ask the question is, "what did Facebook replace."

People used to build their own websites. People used to have blogs. People used USENET which was truly distributed and un-censorable.

Facebook and Google took the open internet and open standards and monetized and made everything crappy. Enough of that. Nothing should replace Facebook, it's done, stick a fork in it.

I'm also a fan of creative fooding, cats, growing green things, photography, architecture, etc. Generally mostly leftist, definitely non-theist. I blog (irregularly) at phoikoi.io, and try to be nice to people (regularly).

@skiant Oh hey thanks! I'd seen those mentioned in the d3.js docs and liked them but didn't know they had the added benefit of cb-friendliness. Extra plus good.

Also, here's another -friendly palette, this one with 7 colors, from someone with more expertise than me: mkweb.bcgsc.ca/colorblind/

Web Annoyancess CSS

This is a stylesheet I've been crafting over the past few months to nuke various WWW annoyances.

Mostly nags, some adverts, cookie reminders, and so very, very, very many "social" icons.

It is aimed to break as little as possible, though no guarantees.

But this one should work globally with Stylus, the CSS manager extension for Firefox, Chrome, and Safari.

Here's a 4-color palette that's friendly to all variants as far as I know: (000, 26c, f64, fe8)
I used this site to test--it's quite handy. (Not affiliated at all, just happy it's around): color-blindness.com/coblis-col
