I am confused by the notion of only horribly sensitive people needing content warnings.
1. You don't know my/other ppl's shit and I/they shouldn't need to tell you why they want/need it.
2. Ability to cope is situational. Some days, you don't need the CW. Other times you can avoid something that's going to upset/trigger you.
3. Attitudes towards CWs tell me a lot about a person & if they have a modicum of consideration for other ppl.
Two days on here and I've made a subtoot already
@Migukin What harm is there in giving a brief description of content? Are you also against movie ratings?
@emily she is adorbs <3 How old is she?

@brunodias It feels a bit like what Imzy was/is trying to do, the way it allows you to pick a per-community persona. You don't have to be the same person everywhere on the site, but you do have to be consistent about who you are in this one place. I can see people using instances in kind of the same way.
noob question: is it considered acceptable to instance hop/shop to see if a space is right for you? There's only so much one can glean from the about/more page.
straight people: you /never/ see many queers hanging out with each other, that's not realistic
queers: okay but what if 40000 of us make our own gay leftist social network and also call everything toots
Hi! I'm Alice, although I answer to pear as well. Queer cis woman, she/her. I have a MLIS but I'm not a librarian. I live in Seattle with my husband & cat.
You may know me from the bird site, Tumblr, or fandom. My hobbies include fucking around on the internet, overanalyzing media, writing fanfic, the occasional video game, & getting into weirdly specific research spirals. hmu if you want to talk about those.
I'm not a nice person, but I strive to be a kind one.
@Siphonay It's quite difficult when one party is pretty much out to destroy the system. At that point it becomes not much of a choice at all for some people.
@groofay Ello was strange from the get-go tbh. Remember the bread emoji?
