Interesting: I've spent some time on mastodon.cloud today. Not many behavior rules. Just a little "Dont be a jerk" and the usual stuff. I like that idea of freedom. But the local stream is not very interesting.

Now, I've read a little bit on octodon.social. Here we have a set of precise rules about CW and hiding potentially offensive speech. I don't like so much the concept of these strict rules. Feels like being in a classroom with a strict teacher.

But the local stream is very interesting.

@stephanmaus The only hard and fast rules about putting things behind a NSFW or CW are things that would probably be encouraged to be put behind a cut on most servers I think? (Lots of people don't want to see untagged gore on their timeline.)

To me (and probably a lot of other people), the use of a cw/cut demonstrates a modicum of consideration for other people. Is it so terrible to spend a few seconds thinking about other people and what they might be sensitive to/want to avoid?

@pearwaldorf Totally agree when it comes to gore, porn etc. - And you are right: Its a curtain, not more.
