No doubt there is a WWDC session video somewhere that examples the N different ways to set your hostname and how they differ and how to choose which one to use but I did not want to spend my morning learning the ins and outs of Apple's doubtless fascinatingly convoluted network stack, I just wanted to install Celery. SIGH.
Example: I want to run async jobs from a Django web server. So I need Celery. So I need RabbitMQ. So I am suddenly told to use an underdocumented system utility scutil to set a setting called HostName on my computer. I want to know what is wrong with the 2 places I have already set the computer's name, and what the consequences of setting this extremely generically named setting will be but there is nothing.
Every time I try to install or use any piece of software other than Django I am reminded of how good the Django documentation is.

Almost forgot to watch Doctor Who! Loved the new title sequence—very reminiscent of the original from 1963 but still super modern.
Minor house fixing so far today: sorted broken shoes in to a bag to be disposed of somehow, un-masked the doorway I painted, borrowed a hammer to fix stair carpet
