Does anyone use 2FA with Gmail *and* get their mail through Evolution?
My team in particular is working with GPS data to make the map better by:
- creating realtime & predictive traffic modeling
- finding unmapped areas
- learning more about how people move all over the world
We've got a job post out here: https://www.mapbox.com/jobs/652511/ (there are also many other posts too)
As we have at the bottom of all our posts, "Sound interesting, but not sure you tick all the boxes? Please apply โ we emphasize teaching and learning, and there's tons of room to grow"

What I like about Mastodon: someone is going to bed every hour of the day.
@Gargron Hi, do you know if a "share" button (for sharing stuff from a web browser) has been created for Mastodon ? Thanks in advance, keep up the good work.
The new release of Signal has support for encrypting and sending arbitrary files. That's a very big deal: for many users it has long been an unsolved problem to securely share documents or recordings, and now it's as easy and sending a text. Update out now for Desktop, iOS, and Android!
So is there a Unix box set up with a shell account for each fediverse admin yet so we can use wall(1) to pontificate about any issues we see on the 'versepipes?
No?
brb.
Free Software is based on the premise that some percentage of consumers can contribute back and share their changes.
Contributing requires skilled consumers.
Given a long enough time, and a trend towards increased computer literacy, I see a stronger Free Software community as an inevitability.
In the mean time, we need to focus on increasing the conversion rate.
Hey Mastopals, here's a t-shirt (hoodie, mug, etc) I made, updated with new 8-bit art. Get one if you want it!
Upgrade seems to have fixed my problems on Android! @CobaltVelvet
@maloki I was listening to a podcast, I think the topic was inequality, but part of it talked about how as we've industrialized and diversified and specialized, we've also adopted the mindset that everything needs to be done at expert-level.
The example used was singing, and how in western culture, regular people sing much less than they used to, partly because of the hierarchical structure of celebrity culture. Doing things as an amateur isn't "good enough" so we don't do it.
If this Chrome native adblocking thing comes to fruition are we going to have an Internet National Register of Historic Places to conserve and subsidize sites that are famous for their egregiousness?
So, on Android there is no easy way for me to save links to Instapaper. Even when I click through I have to "Open in Chrome", then save.
Anyone have a trick, or is this a feature thing?
Cybersecurity for the People: How to Keep Your Chats Truly Private With Signal
I made a video, and wrote a detailed article, about using Signal for end-to-end encryption as securely as possible.

"Our members co-own and co-govern an instance of Mastodon, a popular federated social network similar to Twitter. This way, we're able to keep control over our social data through a trusted co-op while interacting with the big, scary, wider world.
To become an account-holding member, contribute at least $1 per month as a "backer." We recommend contributing what you can on a sliding scale between $1 and $10 per month."

Roughly 90k new users per week means we'll get to 1m mastodon users in about 6 weeks?
