A group of #Twitter shareholders are calling for the company to investigate the feasibility of turning the social media giant into a co-operative.
The process of a joint stock company changing its legal structure to that of a #cooperative is called mutualisation.
It would be HUGE. The world’s largest co-operative, in fact.

🚨🚨🚨 Really major Gmail phishing attack going around right now. Do NOT click on an unexpected "Open in Docs" link.
Whether or not you have, now is a great time to review the apps you've authed to your account: https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions
Does anyone use 2FA with Gmail *and* get their mail through Evolution?
@tcql Any workplace that says this and means it is going to pull in (and retain) higher-quality staff https://octodon.social/media/qkLAwUu5Z5NYD1JKJ9E
My team in particular is working with GPS data to make the map better by:
- creating realtime & predictive traffic modeling
- finding unmapped areas
- learning more about how people move all over the world
We've got a job post out here: https://www.mapbox.com/jobs/652511/ (there are also many other posts too)
As we have at the bottom of all our posts, "Sound interesting, but not sure you tick all the boxes? Please apply – we emphasize teaching and learning, and there's tons of room to grow"
@s_evansUP Looks like they want you to use this "snipping tool":
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/13776/windows-use-snipping-tool-to-capture-screenshots
@s_evansUP I went to post and tell you how to do it (it sounds like you are on Windows) and it turns out taking a screenshot on Windows seems really complicated!
Try Windowsbutton + Shift + S to select an area to screenshot.
Do you know what version of Windows you are on? (7, 8, 10?)
(Sidenote: if you like Open Office you may want to try Libreoffice. All the people who used to develop OO left and started LO a while back and it gets more frequent updates.)

What I like about Mastodon: someone is going to bed every hour of the day.
@Gargron Hi, do you know if a "share" button (for sharing stuff from a web browser) has been created for Mastodon ? Thanks in advance, keep up the good work.
@cameronh1403 @s_evansUP text editor + selected screenshot (shift + screenshot frequently) would be my guess
The new release of Signal has support for encrypting and sending arbitrary files. That's a very big deal: for many users it has long been an unsolved problem to securely share documents or recordings, and now it's as easy and sending a text. Update out now for Desktop, iOS, and Android!
So is there a Unix box set up with a shell account for each fediverse admin yet so we can use wall(1) to pontificate about any issues we see on the 'versepipes?
No?
brb.
Free Software is based on the premise that some percentage of consumers can contribute back and share their changes.
Contributing requires skilled consumers.
Given a long enough time, and a trend towards increased computer literacy, I see a stronger Free Software community as an inevitability.
In the mean time, we need to focus on increasing the conversion rate.
Hey Mastopals, here's a t-shirt (hoodie, mug, etc) I made, updated with new 8-bit art. Get one if you want it!
