Hi All,

I'm going to try to keep this to just my instance(s) (to limit replies):

Does anyone here know how birdsite users tweet longer than 140 characters in a single screen-shot?

I know about TwitLonger & that's not what I mean: it's as if they typed a paragraph, made a very clean, tidy picture of the text box, & uploaded it.

Which ... I'm assuming basically is what they did, but how exactly?

Thank you!

@cameronh1403

But I'm wondering *how* exactly - what commands or software is used?

I'm trying to combine text (longer than 500 characters) with a picture & post it here & I'm a loss.

And feeling *very* stupid because this is *supposed* to be my thing.

* argh *

I don't mind giving up & moving on to something else, but I'd still like to know for future reference. I've been wondering about it for six months on the birdsite; it's about time I asked!

@cameronh1403 @s_evansUP text editor + selected screenshot (shift + screenshot frequently) would be my guess

@paulsheprow @cameronh1403

Y'all are assuming I know how to create & save a screenshot! 🤣

Shift+screenshot (PrtSc?) doesn't work for me, but PrtSc into Paint & then cropping does.

I'll have to keep the target short/small b/c PrtSc captures EVERYTHING which is such a waste in this use, but still ... this gets me started.

I also discovered some new buttons to play with in my text editor (Open Office Writer)!

Thank you, Gentlemen!

@s_evansUP I went to post and tell you how to do it (it sounds like you are on Windows) and it turns out taking a screenshot on Windows seems really complicated!

Try Windowsbutton + Shift + S to select an area to screenshot.

Do you know what version of Windows you are on? (7, 8, 10?)

(Sidenote: if you like Open Office you may want to try Libreoffice. All the people who used to develop OO left and started LO a while back and it gets more frequent updates.)

@paulsheprow

I have a laptop w Windows 7 Pro.

Windowsbutton + Shift + S just gives me a capital S. 😕

Will investigate LibreOffice - thank you! There are some things I'm trying unsuccessfully to do in OO I used to do in Word; not imp't now, but it will be & would be better if I could get them working sooner rather than later. Perhaps LO can help.

I don't have my regular computer & registered software with me, so free, easy, & compatible w Win7 has to be it!

Thank you!

@paulsheprow

Ohhhhhhhhhhh .... I'm going to have fun with this!!

Have saved multiple versions - in multiple formats, have emailed to myself directly & as attachment, have pasted directly into this toot (!!) ...

(& have saved the link so I can't forget!)

This is going to be VERY useful - thank you!!
