2 minutes on the Competitive #overwatch subreddit and you can feel how butthurt people get - it's a game people, no matter how competitive you get you can't go around bashing players for their performance - maybe they had a day off, we're not robots yet!!
@tariqk When did the name "David Sirlin" became a buzzword/meme that can be thrown without real context?
@Chaf hahahaha that's not a meme, it's a flashback
seriously don't look at me, man. we had assholes justifying their ass behaviour by linking to his blog. take it up with them 😂😂😂
@tariqk What's "ass behaviour" anyway? Just whine about anything or aiming to win? Am I an ass if I wanna win? If I take my passion on a game seriously?
@Chaf sweetie, you're an ass for calling it “whining”. and going all aggro on me for reminiscing about a time several very skilled match-3 and turned-base game players came into a massively multiplayer community, broke community standards, called everyone losers for not playing their way, and treating it any more than what it is — an amusement that was there to net the developers money and no one remembers a decade later.
take a fucking chill pill and have some perspective.
@Chaf literally the game avatars looked like playmobil characters, the minigames were based on pentaminoes, match-3 and Tetris, and you could buy pets to put on your shoulders
by all means be passionate, but seriously get a grip
@tariqk Mh hm... It'll be hard for me to take you seriously on asking me to "have some perspective".
You put hours, days of dedications into a game and a fucker tells you to "chill" about what they love. It's kinda acting like parents that tells to their children to stop aiming to do sports and go find a "real" job.
I'll get a grip when you'll stop caring about other people's fun and passion.
@Chaf then chalk it up to jealousy from scrubs, curate your social media presence, move on. is that so difficult?
and yeah... i actually don't have any problems with your efforts, because I've seen YouTube streamers who have honed their skills and are honestly pleasures to watch play. I tell them they play well and i enjoyed the video.
you took the time off your busy day to “defend your passion” but you can't seem to do it without sounding incredibly hurtful.
so, again. get. a. grip.
@o The only thing you should reasonably be able to expect in competetive is that people are willing to *try* to play well.
People just want someone to blame though.
@optimajohnny exactly - always finding the scapegoat, I surely do not miss the feeling of having a "bad day" on a frigging videogame
@o man, now I'm being reminded of the days when the MMOG community we were in had competitive gamers come on by
it was all “play to win David Sirlin stop being scrubs Five Rings yomi blah blah blah trash talking is head game don't be a scrub”
like for a bunch of sedentary folk who were in electronic amusements these people sure liked patterning themselves as samurai or some shit
like, Miyamoto Musashi lived in an era where people killed each other and even he was Extra™ for his era but w/e
