Top tip: Check out Amaroq Mastodon app on iOS. Very good. There will be others for sure but Amaroq works a treat.

I am not reading comments on Hacker News because I pretty much remember all the various sentiments from my first "Show HN", and I do not have the energy to also answer questions there

But as others have pointed out, these are all nice problems to have. I am so happy that people are finally using my work at large. <3

No matter how many forms it takes, no matter how many times I've seen it over so many years, the emergence of spontaneous order out of chaos still gets me in the feels

Okay, with another influx of new people, here is again my article "Welcome to Mastodon: Here is what's different and why it's better" medium.com/@Gargron/welcome-to (I am working on a better in-UI onboarding process)

@morganastra So just to be clear, my UNIQUE id is @number73 right? The varying domain after the 2nd '@' being the instance

@morganastra Ah ha! That makes sense. Thank you :)

OK, I know nothing so help me out here. Am I right in thinking it's possible to have multiple identical usernames across all instances? How does that work for identity usability?

Serious time, to become truly decentralized, we need to be able to move between instances WITHOUT losing followers etc.

We wouldn't have an alternative to the bird site without 8 years of dedicated work by GNU Social. I'm very worried about the fact that we lack the imagination to conceive of a world beyond capitalism, and this is why the work of the socialist movement is so important today.
