Hard questions of my life: should I walk to Taqueria Cancun or Taqueria Guadalajara for tonight's burrito?

Thing I would pay lots of money for:
* an AI-powered robot that sits on my shoulder and when it sees that I'm about to drink coffee in the mid-afternoon, it whispers in my ear, "Nick, don't do it, you'll feel jittery later!"

I was not expecting _The Name of the Rose_ to be the basis for a Doctor Who episode, but I loved it.

Not all heroes wear capes. Taliesin Myrddin Namkai Meche, may your sacrifice never be forgotten and inspire thousands more to stand up to hate, bigotry, and oppression.

Wait, so the, uh, President is proposing that we take $800 billion currently committed for healthcare for the poor and disabled, and instead give it to rich people?

I'm in for $1/month to our octodon.social admin (@CobaltVelvet):
1) in the hope that a little cash can help move to a better host without occasional problems
2) to support a promising federated model for a social media community

We can have really nice things like trains and pedestrian malls and parks and bikeshare and huge buildings, and complete total housing security forever without displacement, without homelessness, without slums, without segregation, without strife

ostatus, Mastodon's base protocol, wasn't written with privacy in mind. It was written with the assumption that a poster would want everyone to be able to read the post, like on a traditional blog. The privacy features built onto Mastodon came out of early user demand and have proven immensely popular, but they're sort of birdhoused onto the protocol and not in the spec. It's time to consider formalizing these features in an RFC or similar document to improve on them.

Apparently Keybase is looking into adding Mastodon as a proof type, and in the meantime people are just pasting Keybase signed messages including their Keybase and Mastodon usernames into a long gibberish-looking message.

just wanna re-iterate that if any people of color have requests for things the dev team can address to make Mastodon better for people of color then you always have an open eat with me and I will do my best to make it happen, so long as it is feasible within the OStatus protocol.

What would it take to prove that a user on a particular Mastodon instance is the same as their Twitter or other identity?
