should I start a patreon? I would at least like to subsidize the ~$60 or so I spend per month hosting bots and other long-term internet projects. and maybe a few extra bucks so I can feel good about the tiny bit of foss labor that I do (mostly on my own python libraries). and maybe a few extra bucks so I can work on other stuff. but to the extent that the patreon money pool is zero-sum I feel bad siphoning money from people that might need it more than me. thoughts?
@npd I think the issue is more that I don't have time to do it with the frequency and quality that I'd like to right now, and if I had other money I could drop a freelance client or two and free up the necessary time
@aparrish yeah, that's such an important way to think about it! And maybe the monthly patronage model encourages that, since you aren't writing code transactionally.
If you had a Liberapay, I'd definitely support it.
