I've said this during the adult creator fiasco with Patreon. It'd be cool if we could use Liberapay instead but Liberapay is specifically made to have anonymous donations with no rewards possible. They said this way they can avoid paying fees since otherwise they'd be selling goods. And rewards and credits are super important in motivating people to pledge support.
I don't like this Patreon change. The thing is, if you raised the price to *creators*, it wouldn't be as bad. It would be mean, but you're in no danger of losing creators, since there are barely any alternatives to the platform and the creators depend on it for their livelihood. On the other hand, patrons always have the alternative of not pledging. What a stupid move
@gargron was Patreon losing a lot of money? It seems like this will dramatically increase their profit margin.
I don't like how it's being presented in a misleading way, but if it's the only way to maintain the system, then I might be willing to pay the extra percentage.
