I'm really not sure if I'm more fascinated or disturbed by the fact that Google has no problem whatsoever doing translation on text from a script .

@jordyd Time is an illusion,
Lunchtime doubly so.

I finished (the 1st draft) of the first I've ever willingly written.
Mostly because I own too many to not at least attempt to write something. It's a somewhat absurd scifi piece based on the idea that a particular piece of common technology has been faked all along.
I'll probably have to post it sometime after I retype it.
Adler Tippa S with script typeface, if you're curious. Not my favorite in my collection, but a fun little machine anyway.

Went through my own closets like I was on to get ready for the town flea market tomorrow.

@fobo Not to be confused with Bob A. Frett, who was the original guitarist for the band in the Moe's Lively Cabana scene

Drive an hour & a half, make a 2 minute job take 20 (so the customer knows I did something), and drive an hour & a half back for my next call.

@DaveHiggins @starbreaker I hope it at least comes with a bunch of sample images you'll never open and also can't delete

@dumpling I agree, unfortunately no one I get to deal with uses Linux, if they even know what it is.
On the upside, at least I had a helper, a curious little Siamese kitten with the biggest thumbs I've ever seen. Wasn't able to take any pictures though

@dumpling I guess the biggest slowdown this time was prying the pre-installed McAfee off the machine, but I still can't remember the last time Ibsat down at a Win PC that just worked. (And as a copier tech I'm usually just installing printer drivers, not fixing PC issues)

How slooooow can you go?
-Me, setting up a brand new Win10 computer for a customer

Seriously, users out there. Is it always this painful to use? I've been sitting in front of this brand new Dell all-in-one (customer's purchase) for an hour just trying to get the basics set up and everything is lagging horribly because of all the background updates.
How is that acceptable to normal people?

I came across thewritertype.podbean.com while trying to figure out what to do with a story idea in my head (I'm not a writer and don't play one on TV). I found it pretty funny, and since I already drink too much coffee, have no friends & too many typewriters, it's made me think I might almost have what it takes to succeed at failing to be a writer. Only one episode, but I'm looking forward to more.

@salmon_cannon have you tried Wire? It's open source, multiplatform without needing the phone nearby, does voice & video too. And it's marketed as a business app (so the boss should be happy) but is free for personal use. My wife didn't like all her contacts being merged in Telegram, but we could set up Wire using emails instead of cell numbers, and avoid that.

@djoerd ah, yeah. I think the web app needs something that's not in the mobile browsers. The android app is good & you can download from their site instead of the play store if you want

@djoerd I've been using it a while now and it's been great, but I'm guessing you're trying to set up with an email instead of your cell number? I think that still has to be done from a PC the first time, which is a hassle.

@DaveHiggins unless we're already within the story....

@DaveHiggins totally relatable concept. I really thought today was the 3rd until I got to work, and part of me still feels like yesterday was the 2nd.
