Every time I have to do a Windows update at work I wonder why any company would do this to themselves
On the one hand I don't want to package these Electron apps.
And on the other hand... somebody's gotta do it.
Why is it that every modern chat clients desktop apps are done with electron?
@pushcx Indeed!
I've been reading lobste.rs for a while and saw you pop up here.

I'm not sure what you mean here. Patching a binary extracted from a sha256 identified tarball seems as reproducible as you can get (for a pre-built binary).
Sure it's not from source, but it is entirely reproducible. Now... I wouldn't call that a build π
Guix can now produce relocatable application bundles. Unlike snap, flatpak, etc. the resulting bundles can be bit-reproducible and the user needs no additional software to run them since every distro can extract a tarball.

Neat! Nice to see you around as well.
I can understand going back from NixOS. It can be a big pain in the butt.
The best part of Nix in my opinion is you can still install it on top of other distros. I use it all the time at work to get updated tools (leiningen, ruby, etc) on Debian boxes. Not sure how much that would help on Slackware though
