Litany against NAT
apologies to Frank Herbert
I must not NAT.
NAT is the net-killer.
NAT is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my NAT addiction.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the NAT has gone there will be a proper firewall.
Only IPv6 will remain.
I have my phone set to auto-deny any number that is not in my contact list to combat the ever increasing amount of spam I've been getting. Unfortunately there is one insurance scammer that has taken to leaving voicemails. Multiple VMs a day for the last two weeks.
I contacted my provider about disabling my VM box altogether. They do not support this. You can, however, redirect missed calls to another number instead.
I now send missed calls to: https://github.com/pjf/rickastley
Eat Rickroll, spammers!
Short answer: No.
Long answer: Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
I've got a signal here I can't figure out what it is, despite spending some quality time with sigidwiki.com :

Audio is recovered from FM demodulator.
Hoping @rey or some of the #hamradio folk might know what it is.
They fixed my #IPv6 autofs bug in January, so I stopped following it. In April they discovered a regression and backed the patch out just in time for the release of 18.04. So now we get another full LTS cycle without autofs+IPv6.

@djsundog Oh, I almost forgot: the super-secret SSH interface!
More @djsundog inspired hardware nostalgia: the Chumby!
@djsundog and friends: Do you remember the i-Opener?

Tonight's nostalgia:
Found a Pole Position ROM for my Atari 800 emulator. Just like I used to play when I was a kid.

I've been seeing a lot of FT8 posts lately. I've even tried it out. But, I'm more of a ragchewer than a contester. If you're in that boat too, fire up fldigi and give the Olivia modes a try. I've had perfect copy QSOs when the signal was barely visible in the waterfall. It's similar technology (MFSK with FEC) but you're not constrained to short, templated messages. I find Olivia-8-500 to be a good balance of speed and bandwidth.
