I want the software driving cars around my family to be held to the a similar standard of quality. In the context of self-driving cars, "Move fast and break things" means "Half-arse it and kill people."

Humans in the USA manage 1.16 fatalities per 100,000,000 miles travelled. Uber's software couldn't even get to 3 million miles before it killed someone.

We do this properly, or not at all.

@dc7ia OM and YL (Young Lady) get on my nerves too. I don't know if it's internationally used, but in the UK a lot of people use XYL to mean 'wife'.

Time to dump such anachronisms if we are going to get people who don't live in the 1950s interested in amateur radio.

@jordyd nope, different radio services. CB is primarily AM at ~27MHz. Amateur covers many modulations and frequencies, requires a license.

@jordyd I'm a #hamradio op, so I use PTT every day. Zello is a fun app to replicate the experience. Mumble also has a PTT mode.

I think I'm gonna submit a bug report on it not trapping that condition very well. User probably ought to get a more meaningful error or a black frame thumbnail.

@staticsafe Can you do me a favor? I have a .webm file that plays fine in browser, but when I try to upload it to Mastodon I get a "500 Server Error". Can you try to upload it and report what you get in the error logs?

I got down a rabbit hole trying to create an oEmbed endpoint that Mastodon would inline. Hasn't worked yet. I should probably come up from that rabbit hole and do some higher priority things first.
