between Jim at AdoredTV's insightful video and the article at PCGamesN, rumors are everywhere...I'm guessing it is more of a "when" than a "if."

@MatejLach Yeah...I'm sure their marketing and PR probably cross-check one another...so no telling! I actually thought it was a little harsh of AMD in the first place, but Intel *had* just tried to upstage TR2 with a sham (or, at best, a price-wise incomparable product and lack of disclosure concerning the extreme overclock) of a 28-core @ 5GHz...like you mentioned, so I think they kinda had it coming.

@MatejLach at least the response to the jab (a 16-thread ThreadRipper in exchange for the 8086 for 40 winners) was clever and above the belt: techspot.com/news/75164-intel- -- marketing kept clean for once, even on social media!

wow...32 cores / 64 threads for 2nd gen! and seems to drop into existing boards. i thought 24, maybe...but didn't imagine they'd make 32 cores available. was hoping to get some info on that rumored 28 cu apu, though!

Jim Keller, the renowned CPU architect, is now at after helping with then then amd again (for ) before a stint at . Intel scooping him up goes to show how far amd has come and I imagine he'll do wonderful things for the blue team!

@lord that was a fun read! while setting the unused video memory as swap would be interesting...I was really thinking 8GB HBM (I think there is supposed to be a cheaper / slower HBM soon?) on-die with an APU acting as both system and GPU memory but allowing a really compact setup that would still bring reasonable performance.

i'd love to say this could be on a single chip, but HBM has only been added via EMIB or interposer at this point. plus I don't actually know what I'm talking about.

@lord I'm excited about reading up on this! Thanks for the link!

@luricaun and...i'm real late, you already switched out and performed the update. sorry for the late information!

@luricaun This is an annoying, but known, problem -- motherboards that don't say "Ryzen G-Series Ready" will require a BIOS update. Some have that functionality built-in (and don't require a processor), but most lower end ones don't. AMD has a program where they'll send you a low end bristol ridge APU if you'd rather not go through the hassle of disassembling your personal machine and have the time to wait for shipping.

This is the down-side of not requiring new boards per generation/line.

@linux awesome news! i enjoyed the 2013 tombraider, but the option to run the new one on linux (if i ever upgrade my GPU) is a really cool option!

is rumored to be working on , or for CPU usage. This is what I've been waiting on for a while...just look at the performance of the new NUC with graphics to see what a higher-end could look like! i'm not sure how addressable GPU HBM would be over PCI-E, but I've thought for a while it'd be interesting for PC to have access to that memory when the GPU isn't using it...especially on a low memory machine.

fun rant from about the new gt 1030 variant with lower clocks and slower memory. steve also honorable mentions pulling some shady configuring of the rx 560 after launch and nvidia's 1060 3GB version.

@catdad you could install and suffer through the nag screens if you aren't sure how much you'll play. i bought a windows 10 key through one of those cheap sites for $20 (some tech sites have reviewed them and can't say conclusively that they aren't legit). let me know if you want a link. i imagine performance would suffer through wine. what type of hardware are you running?

@catdad i feel like they have inserts you can add if you already have a wallet you like, but i'm with you...might as well get one that blocks if you are buying!

@catdad yes if they are made correctly. i'd be weary of getting them from ebay/amazon shops with less than stellar reviews.

@catdad ugh at getting friends -- that takes too long! you can install Windows in less than an hour...if you aren't having to shrink a partition!

The new GeForce Partner Program by does not seem to be fully transparent nor consumer friendly. Hopefully, enough people will complain or there will be a threat of hurt sales and they'll roll it back, or the plan will backfire and the newly created, alternate gaming brands will garner some attention and get some marketshare. I feel like fines or financial hits are the only way these companies listen.
