the game theory rant would look even more unhinged with mastodon's 500 character limit, i bet. the barking pseudo-lolcat is-he-doing-a-bit-or-just-on-uppers style that relies on a character limit for what little rhetorical power it has would not survive even a few hundred more characters per segment. the illusion that he knows what he's talking about woukd be broken completely

this might be better in the long run! but it's best to also acknowledge this is going to lead to a SHIT ton of grief and chaos as users conflict with instance owners and people jump ship and accuse each other of being shitty allies and etc. this place is "social justice eats itself" central and it's going to be crazy

@jkb maybe, true. but i wonder if, in practice, disconnecting an instance filled with 70% good people and 30% trash will be a controversial decision and there will be a lot of people angry with their instance hosts and jumping ship, and a ton of drama, etc. basically reddit-style drama in a twitter format
