Another thought that brought more peace: “People before stuff”. I like to finish things, but when the toddlers are crying right now, I can most of the time just interrupt what I am doing, comfort them and continue my work later. (There are still enough “hard constraints” when I cannot comfort them. So I don’t think they “won’t learn to wait”. I hope they will learn that you should help when you can and if you don’t help, you most likely can’t.)
