Just reading stuff on this demo against kid’s poverty tomorrow in Berlin 2pm from Neptunbrunnen (https://mama-arbeitet.de/politik/aufruf-demo-gegenkinderarmut-in-berlin-am-12-mai) and if I recall right, at the introduction of “Elterngeld” instead of “Erziehungsgeld“ it was said that they want to “encourage” employed academics to get kids and discourage poor / unemployed people 🤢🤮

As far as I know, Elterngeld is 100% deducted just like Kindergeld when you are under Hartz IV.
