Looking for a job in Berlin

I am looking for a mini-job in Berlin. I have an MA in theoretical linguistics and German literature and 4/7 of my studies of BSc computational linguistics.

I did a lot of stuff including coding but mainly did care work in the last 10 years.

Boosts are welcome.

I’d like to be part of a stable care network in my everyday life (in Berlin) to make life better for my kids and me. I am used to physically and emotionally demanding work and know CPR and other care skills, so I think I can contribute. Due to my lack of resources I am effectively not as reliable as I strive to be.

I’d like to connect to other queer parents or carers and am interested in learning about how to make care networks actually work in everyday life.

Meta follow requests, ~

I am awkward but very happy to interact with people in general and am happy to accept follow requests. But I am vulnerable on many levels and it’s unlikely I will accept a request if we have never interacted or met or your public profile is almost empty or includes neither pronouns nor political statements.

By the way: I am still looking for 1-2 nurse(s) as personal assistants 40h/week for one of my kids in Northern Berlin. (I‘ll pin this toot, boosts welcome.)

We are looking for a wheelchair accessible secondary school / highschool in Berlin or anywhere else in Germany. Any substantial recommendations are welcome.

Preferably with “individual rhythm” similar to Montessori and access to “gymnasiale Oberstufe”.

D, is it true?, unsettling stuff about “ePatientenakte” vs. psychotherap

I heard that with ePatientenakte medical professionals are required to not only upload diagnoses but everything they have on you. Every measurement they take and including all the notes a psychotherapist makes. (Heard it from someone who got it from their therapist.) That would be a massive barrier for me to use psychotherapy. Is that true? Does anyone have good information on that?

Pondering on consent in sex and power imbalances, about sexual (child) abuse, grooming, age, relative poverty, -

I wanted to make a thread but didn’t succeed so far. So I’ll just post those first thoughts and will add more when I have more I want to add.

So far I think you can only consent to sexual activities when you are aware and understand what you are consenting to and are “free” to consent as in: there are no relevant personal or structural power imbalances.

I have been groomed by adults as a teenager and at that age I was lonely, poor and abused and the attention felt validating and good (and I had access to stuff like drinking hot chocolate in a café and mobility. I could talk to people that seemed to understand me). (There are tons of narratives that romanticize that stuff, too. We even got such stuff as canonical material in schools in Germany.) But I think it also did some damage.

Berlin, uni stuff, trans/inter/non-binary-activism, link to a petition

Universities in Berlin could use gender and name of a person’s choice. But so far most don’t. There’s a petition going round that asks the regarding Berlin senator to prescribe accepting people’s choices to the universities. (Disclaimer: I contributed a tiny bit in that petition.)

Especially if you are living or studying in Berlin, contemplate joining and spreading that petition:

Pondering on buying a music instrument

I played double-bass as a teenager but the instrument was rented so I haven’t played in almost 20 years. Now I got this quite big dedicated budget to buy an instrument. I could buy something else instead… (I also played violin, guitar and piano.)

I dreamt about starting the bass again and would still like to do it but I actually don’t have enough space to store anything bigger than a recorder. Maybe clarinet or oboe? Maybe an electrical double bass?

I think something where a lot of good study materials exist? Any ideas on other instruments or storage?

flowers and a question for names

On the same walk in the drizzling rain yesterday I made those photos:

[photo of white to light violet lilac], [photo of small violet blossoms with 4 petals], [photo of tiny light blue blossoms with 4 petals and white centers and hairy leaves], [pink and white cherry blossoms].

If you know the missing names of the flowers, I’d be happy if you’d let me know them.

video of a snail

I met this young snail yesterday while it was drizzling.

[video of a young snail with grayish house on concrete. It is running along from left to right and when it meets a tuft of grass, it turns towards the camera and goes on. A lot of birds are singing and cars are driving in the background.]

It’s lavender in front of my window without blossoms but I am happy with anticipation already for how it will be(e) when it’s blooming ☺️

COVID-19 / very negative

Being well networked with lovely people is great but that also means a ton of people I know are key workers through this pandemic. I just spoke with someone and they told me the official advice for if an elderly person in a care home gets infected. I won't tell you the details because it would be too upsetting. It's horrifically bleak.
Keep this lockdown locked down and take it real fucking seriously please.

Leute.

subtoot hug ~

Kind of a subtoot again: I think I cannot make stuff better for you, but if you’d like to I can virtually hug you and hold you for a while.
