Just fyi, a trans person very kindly helped with the building of the back end of Pinterest and therefore you're allowed a "custom" gender option which includes emoji.

@mxsiege that you enter this but it's entirely internal and shows up nowhere on the frontend? must just be for like, analytics or recommendations then :p

@er1n Yep. The designer behind it did a lecture which is viewable online somewhere titled "My gender is pizza" if i remember, and they go into why their first instinct was to ask why do they even need a gender field but finding out it was important. Cant remember the specifics but i think it was to do with how you need to know if your media is too heavily slanting towards men etc.
