Amazon priest who championed land rights for Brazil's poor is arrested
Father Amaro Lopes, who continued the work of Dorothy Stang in Anapu, in the Amazon state of Pará, was hospitalized by the police.
Dorothy Stang was murdered in 2005 in a killing orchestrated by landowners during a dispute that continues today.
Some weeks ago, in an interview with @guardian, Father Amaro said, "They are working on a plan to get rid of me."
