It’s another version of the I’m Not Like Other Girls paradigm. They believe shielding men they supposedly have more in common w(cuz they’re just so quirky that way) instead of standing in solidarity with other women makes them unique, valuable, protected. It doesn’t.
Why do women defend abusers like for example Louis CK? "He has been my friend since 1985. Leave him alone, he has suffered."
WHAT IS GOING ON IN YOUR BRAIN, JANEANE GAROFALO?
And why have so many people this "It hasn't happened to ME so it can't be true" mindset. That is such an egotistical and unempathetic worldview.
"If someone mispronounces a word, do not mock them. That means they learned it from reading."
Yeah or the language being spoken is not their first one, or they have any number of neurological or physical or mental illnesses, or they're hard of hearing, or they speak the language with an accent where that is the standard pronunciation, or a million other things and you know what you shouldn't mock anyone for this ever anyway.
this is unprompted but its a thing i see come up sometimes and was thinking about so
hey um, reminder that artists, musicians, game devs, etc etc are allowed to advertise themselves
there’s a big difference between a multimillion-dollar corporation, and a person trying to survive capitalism
please dont treat both as if they’re the same thing
What tiny bits I know about what each of them does to a person’s brain and body suggests that people are right to be suspect of the internet (especially social media) and not of books. Reading is physically good for you, calming, and often puts you in a receptive and compassionate place. The internet, especially social media... at best, fairly similar to what happens to you when you spend all day at a slot machine.
