A question to all #linguistics enthusiasts in the fediverse.

The picture shows one of artist Abdullah Al Saadi's Diaries, exhibited at the 2017 Venice Biennale of Art. He was born and lives in the UAE.

My question is: What language is it written in? Most of his diaries are in Arabic, but this does not look like it. It's written from right to left, so it's not Ethiopic or Tifinagh either. Any clues?

2018 is the year in which a woman managed to fly from Chicago to London without a ticket, and in which a 12 year old boy flew from Sydney to Perth and to Bali (and passed the passport control there) without an accompanying adult.

I was checking out a video on #YouTube and for some reason the only things it loaded were the video player, the logo, and the search bar. This accidentally minimalistic version of YouTube was pure bliss.

Yesterday I had a stroll in a park here in #Milan and noticed a strange mound. It turned out to be artificial, with a 19th-century underground temple below it. Unfortunately it‘s not accessible and the only way to peek into it is from an oculus at the top, which is sealed off with a grating. I could not see the interior because the oculus was in the shade. I will bring a flashlight next time.

I love this kind of urban discoveries. Cities are truly full of hidden places.

Some of the people I know had some troubles when they were travelling abroad and had to order food at a restaurant.
