Apparently this is the zeroth article I have read from the New Yorker this month.
I'm reading Elizabeth Kolbert's book “The Sixth Extinction” – a wonderful and accessible read so far. And it has a whole chapter about mastodon teeth and their role in the early development of Earth science!

So I've been at the #Venice Biennale of #Art today. One of the artists represented is John Waters (yes, THAT John Waters), and here's one of his works on display, which features the best lesson I learned today by the way:

Another thing I learned this weekend: The devil was sometimes pictured as a toad in #Renaissance paintings. Here's the example I saw last Saturday: It's the “Enthroned Madonna and child with St. Ambrose and St. Michael” by Bramantino, in which the toad is lying on its back because the devil had been defeated by St. Michael.

The “Federated” icon in Amaroq is the first globe icon I see that is not centered neither on the Americas nor on Europe. A refreshing choice for once!
