@hellpie @wowaname I use emoji, but I try to be aware of the differences among their many representations (e.g. the “gun" emoji is a toy or an actual gun according to different vendors; the “loudly crying face” looks ironic on iOS; etc.) and it's far from easy. Having TTS software read the official descriptions adds another layer to the clusterfuck we ended up with.

@hellpie I was under the assumption that screen readers would use the Unicode character description, but now that I think about it, I'm not sure they actually do…
