"Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" is really a story about how harassers/abusers suddenly turn "nice" when they want something from you.
A website I have loved just announced that it is shutting down its forum, and moving the discussion to #Facebook. Sigh.
Well, I guess that's the end of my relationship with that site.

Mastodon doesn't use smart algorithms to fill my feed with 'interesting content' and yet I find more interesting things here than on twitter.
Note to twitter: Keep It Simple, Stupid.
Do you ever wish you could make one toot disappear from your sight? Like when a person whose content you normally like posts a lecture / rant that is just annoying.
I wish for this a lot.
Have lurched from one cooking mistake to another, yet somehow wound up wth a delicious thing.
At each step, I was just trying to fix the previous screw-up.
So now I have a weird recipe that nobody is going to believe.
Will make again.
I blew it on a recipe the other night, by putting all of the ingredients in the pot at once. I was supposed to reserve the arrowroot powder to thicken the sauce AFTER cooking.
But it worked fine, and the sauce thickened beautifully as it cooked.
So why do all the recipes say to use arrowroot for thickening only at the end of a recipe? Is perplexing.

Vice's publication Motherboard says that "To Save Net Neutrality, We Must Build Our Own Internet" and will start publishing articles on how to set up decentralized internet infrastructure and start your own ISP.
That's going way beyond traditional journalism. That's really awesome!

You know ketamine shows promise in treating depression? With that in mind, see this article by Emily Deans, MD. It's fascinating.
"So is there a less dramatic, “natural” version of ketamine, something we can safely ingest every day, but might be a little depleted in our modern diets?"
And then she goes on to talk about magnesium.
