There is a woman here who steals used pumpkins. A few days after Hallowe'en, she drives to the place where we all put our jack o'lanterns, and takes many of them away.
I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, it's good because she uses the pumpkins in her compost. On the other hand, I like seeing jack o'lanterns gradually wizen and collapse as frost slays them, and my dog likes to chew on them. So I wish she would leave them in place.
@mirabilis Huh. Pumpkin thief? Here, the squirrels and chipmunks would be up in arms (and tails) at the loss of a vital food source. Our pumpkins have deep holes in them, from all the nibbling.
