@Nurowyn Welcome! I’m a graphic designer, so I’m with you on the amateur coding (but probably not the same kind), but also a huge science enthusiast among other things!
Since you’re in biology, I wanna ask, where do you stand on plant intelligence? (or is that too loaded of a question) it’s one of my favorite topics to read about 😍
At this point i’m 100% convinced that American football is performance art and should be treated as such by the arts community
@kingu_platypus_gidora nothing can make yog-sothoth cute 😢
@exo YES, tactile feedback is so important!! And not only on our fingers, also on our Digital Fingers that do things like click and scroll
I’ve been thinking a lot about that lately, how screen experiences cater to or ignore the needs of those parts of us cyborgs
@exo re: keyboards, I’m personally adept with the touchscreen keyboard, but I realized recently that you can get bluetooth keyboard cases for mainstream smartphones! That’s one of the reasons I think it’s great that phones are unreasonably thin and “need” a case, so you can customizes your phone with cool stuff like that without making it unreasonably thick.
@exo I 100% agree about the texting, as mobile tech has gotten more elaborate those key basics have become so cheap. When I got my first cellphone in middle school I was only allowed 100 texts per month :’-)
I’ve been very into Old Internet Tech lately. RSS is fuckin great. Email is awesome. Give me a good old message board any day. TEXTING: Did you know you can still make and use a twitter account with full functionality from a dumb phone? Texting is great!! This old stuff is indestructible and I LOVE IT
My dog has peed on my bed so many times i’ve learned to change the sheets without even removing the blanket
Good news, I've just measured my tomato plant and it is 64 inches tall, the same height as me. How has this happened??? #gardening
@roseemoji
Jump into random conversations and talk to people! People are way friendlier here. Also, compared to where you came from, there's very little emphasis on "good content" here. People are just hanging out :)
HEY what is up
Wow, when you hear "the paperclip game" you'd never expect it to be a simulation of the destruction of the universe
My favorite thing is when my boss asks me if I can talk and I respond "yes" immediately, and then he doesn't respond for 20 min
I was away for a while bc of dramatic work changes (which has honestly been every month or two since graduating college LMAO) but I am now successfully freelancing full time and things are good and I'm my boss and my aptmt is my office and I'm back.
Hello god it's me, Tariq.
Are you there?
...
Ohhh good, all clear up there? How're things? Good I hope. Thanks, I'm doing okay, mostly.
Actually to be truthful, there is one thing, right now.
Yes god, it's that time again.
I would like to lodge a complaint.
@Mainebot some people have an iron will. I have a spaghetti-like-substance will that I've gotten very good at manipulating.
@Snip :scream:
@Mainebot I intentionally allow myself to procrastinate until the stress from not doing it outweighs the dread of doing it.
They key is that I give myself permission to procrastinate, which prevents stress buildup due to doing something I'm not supposed to be doing (which is paralyzing instead of motivating) and let's the helpful stress just do its thing.
@Siphonay please just give me a viking funeral right now
The way plants think and feel is so alien to us, they're all around us yet we can't relate to them at all. I want to be empathetic towards them but the distance between us is so vast.
