milo @milo

I’ve been very into Old Internet Tech lately. RSS is fuckin great. Email is awesome. Give me a good old message board any day. TEXTING: Did you know you can still make and use a twitter account with full functionality from a dumb phone? Texting is great!! This old stuff is indestructible and I LOVE IT

@milo it's a fortunate thing that telecom companies often offer unlimited texting by default, and i very much remember when it was not the case

also an unlocked blackberry priv is like $200 on ebay, when it used to be like $900 barely 2 years ago, i can personally vouch for it as a great phone with a physical keyboard in the midst of endless apple/apple-like shite (i've only had phones with physical keyboards)

@exo I 100% agree about the texting, as mobile tech has gotten more elaborate those key basics have become so cheap. When I got my first cellphone in middle school I was only allowed 100 texts per month :’-)

@exo re: keyboards, I’m personally adept with the touchscreen keyboard, but I realized recently that you can get bluetooth keyboard cases for mainstream smartphones! That’s one of the reasons I think it’s great that phones are unreasonably thin and “need” a case, so you can customizes your phone with cool stuff like that without making it unreasonably thick.

@milo that's all true, but I gotta have my phones with a keyboard, even if it's on a slider, or even a clamshell, i'm good as gesturing too since i have a tablet, but i crave that tactile input

@exo YES, tactile feedback is so important!! And not only on our fingers, also on our Digital Fingers that do things like click and scroll

I’ve been thinking a lot about that lately, how screen experiences cater to or ignore the needs of those parts of us cyborgs
