I've been ruminating over laws written "fairly" - where *all* people have access to something (gun, speech, ...) - or "unbiased" - *all* people are undiscriminated against (hiring, firing, ...). So far I think these laws exist to maintain the status quo. Really protecting rights would put the ruling class in danger instead of equal protection.

That's my hot take. But what are you thinking? How would you rephrase the 1st Amend., if you could?

I've been working on an Android app for Mastodon with a picture-focused UX, heavily inspired by Insta. I agree - it's all about the interface!

Epilogue: not a sprain! The X-ray showed nothing interesting. The doctor thinks it might have been bruising to the tendons. They gave me a referral for a hand specialist if the pain continues. As of now, it feels better.

I took a big spill last Wednesday while mountain biking (for my third time ever!) and thought I was OK. Just some bruises and scrapes.

The hand bruises have spread (?) to my wrist and it hurts to type. Delayed by a week.

Did I hairline-fracture it? What do I do here?

Is this just a part of aging?

I've been thinking about this lately, and how odd that is. Seems to me that if you tell a programmer e.g. "some people can't hear" the response should be "an edge case! Let's refactor everything to support that!"

And similarly, "you've only hired men" should get "this is a bug in our system and I will not sleep until we have rewritten our entire interview process and company culture such that it is fixed."

But those don't seem to be the popular reactions.

In writing this out I realized none of these apps are exciting, and that's how I like it:
F-Droid, OTP Authenticator, Mastalab, Firefox, Signal, OpenCamera, Simple Gallery, Password Store, NewPipe, Standard Notes, Blokada.

And Spaceteam! There's my thrill and adventure.
