Welp, turns out that various public Facebook events I expressed interest in - including trans pub meetup nights - may or may not have been injected into followers' feeds, at the whim of The Algorithm. I may be more directly out among extended family than I expected.
(I say 'directly' because I was expecting the rumor mill to work its magic. This isn't a safety concern for me, thank gods.)
@memnus ugggh. I am always confused and alarmed when people start liking that I'm going to some event or other. I think the only way to stop it is if the event itself is set to private.
@cyndisision I discovered this by going to "activity review" (or something) and scanning back. There's an option to keep it off your timeline, but only from that completely different screen, which, what the hell.
I may go check if there are some actual default settings to change about that. I really doubt it.
@cyndisision (Follow-up: No obvious place to set that default. Of course.)
@cyndisision Yep. Keep the activity page bookmarked, refresh it every time you do anything, hope your uncle doesn't refresh his feed before you can uncheck the "show everyone that I'm interested in a reading of new trans erotica" box
@memnus Like, wouldn't it be awesome if I could selectively show my Queerdos list that I'm interested in a reading of new trans erotica, tho? :P
