@bentley @Elex careful you're not TOO crackdowned on thirdparty links - I think it's fine if you want to include a "support the instance" patreon link on the about page, for example, which would definitely violate the current wording despite not being an ad. Or maybe you're against that? In which case god b w ye! 👼

Import/Export will not cut it for moving accounts between instances An instance-to-instance protocol complete with handshake for migration is what is necessary.
. @NthTensor oh yep this would also be super useful in helping folks pick an instance when signing up, you could get a vibe for the tone of it beyond just the about page
I really think we should expose the federated timeline to the public.
Dont let people post things, just watch.
Let people without accounts look at the current activity, find subjects that interest them, and see if people they know are already here.
