if some one wanted to drive around the continental united states for the first time, where would you tell them to stop and check out?
@Loop That's a really hard question to answer. How much time do you want to take? How do you feel about very long drives?
Here are some maps created by a computer scientist with various objectives... http://www.randalolson.com/2015/03/08/computing-the-optimal-road-trip-across-the-u-s/
@Loop Interesting! A month is a decent amount of time to see a little bit of a lot of places, or a lot of a few places.
Summer is the busy time for most of the National Parks. They tend to be crowded. I think some need reservations. However, if it's likely to be your only chance to see it, I would definitely go to the Grand Canyon.
Expect to spend a lot on gas (check http://www.gasbuddy.com/USA for current prices). The cost/gallon may be lower than you're used to, but the distances can be huge.
@logista thanks, ill let you know what i end up doing!
@Loop There's plenty more... but as you get a feeling for what you want to do we can give you more specific advice. :)
