@thor As a Lurker on all other platforms, I concur 100% with the advice to just go for it here. Be brave just once and the shyness diminishes. I am more myself here than anywhere else, despite having revealed the least amount of personal information.

I'm going to turn my other social media accounts into Mastodon propaganda tools. I'm going to tell people to stick around for several days and really try to follow and talk to people, like, give it some effort, because unlike with other social networks, if you do that on Mastodon, especially on a smaller instance, you WILL get rewarded.

@wrongroot They are! There were also demos of how the armour was made (as well as other medieval activities). This kind person then demonstrated how well the armour dealt with incoming English arrows. The performers did a really good job.

@DoullsBooks In my house, this would definitely be used for pies...

Unexpectedly stumbled upon a display of today at Castle. Amusing chat also about different fighting styles of and . octodon.social/media/EWcyXVYiQ

I like coming to Dunkin' Donuts so I can look at attractive people and think "soon... soon you will be one of us"

So happy to have decided to stop being a Lurker... Chatting with a stranger ( @XopherY ) has, tonight, got me recalling some of the best memories from childhood.

@XopherY One of the first pieces I ever played after getting involved with youth orchestras! We formed a little scratch chamber orchestra and took it to a few venues in England and France. I remember the conductor's passion for it so vividly. He said it was the piece that, upon hearing it for the first time, confirmed for him he was going to dedicate his life to music. That, and the hilarity over the disastrous results of my then clarinet teacher having to fill in for the pianist one evening...

@groofay LEGO Jurassic World: The Indominus Escape movie was more entertaining than the main movie. I wouldn't rush to watch that one either though.

@Averly @tiphra I was going to attempt to offer some encouraging words but this wins!

Posts about the arrival of spring are really boosting my mood. Here is my own contribution. An absolute joy! youtu.be/3vwq1AyYGzo

@unorigmoniker What a gem! I need to show this to my dad...

@quinterbeck What a lovely toot! I have been experiencing the same feeling almost every day for about two weeks now. I dream of a future where I have a garden with a cherry tree... Also a magnolia tree. Beautiful.

@cruelnoise Engrossing is good. I've become so lazy about my reading since I finished studying. I am hoping for a stack of unputdownables to help me sort myself out!

@RexfordGTugwell What did you think of the Solnit? I'll check it out, thanks. I do know the story of The Count (and have seen film adaptation) but have never actually read it.

@XopherY Ah, we've all got a duke... Ours is said to have lost the family fortune and castle by getting extremely drunk on the morning of his wedding, then running off with his wife-to-be's sister! Or something... Ha!

@howfar Get your wellies out for all that muddy puddle jumping...

@XopherY One cousin still lives in Edinburgh. He is elderly. I have never met his children so I kinda count him as the "last" relative there. Our clan is MacNaughton! Do you know which clan your ancestors were?
