Religion often seems to start as a genuine teaching towards understanding reality and living accordingly. It presents itself as a path towards individuation and liberation. As time passes, it calcifies and becomes moralistic prescriptive, an element of civilised control. Virtue then replaces excellence, and its prescriptions become inimical to true liberation.
I wish something like XMPP had caught on more. Everyone and their uncle wants to invent the next big instant messaging service, and all I want is something that's standardised and federated, and runs smoothly and reliably on my computer and my phone.

I am wandering, if there mor blind folks arround here to share thoughts and ideas to deal with this network.
Something that's bugged me for a while: in #Tootdon, if a toot is just a link/links/hashtag/hashtags, it is IMPOSSIBLE to tap on a post to get details/thread view.
Sometimes I think about making a YouTube channel where I rant about programming. I don't think it would be hard to make it entertaining and even funny at times, but I'm at a loss for how I would make it visually engaging. Screen captures of text editors isn't anyone's idea of fun, and animated graphics would be too time consuming. Any bright ideas?
